Greasy Skin
More prevelant in teenage years due to the huge change in the body's hormones. Use a mild astringent, avoid perfumed or oily creams and lotions. This stage normally passes and only in rare cases needs major medical intervention.
Dry Skin:
Dry skin and itching can be a problem at any age, but does tend to increase with age as the skin loses some of its natural oils, this is exagerated by the loss of sweat and oil glands in your skin. Avoid using too much soap, ta and using heavily perfumed prducts. Use a natural cream with little or no added essence.
Bruising:
Normally associated with age, this skin problem is quite common as skin tissue thins. This can be caused by over-exposure to UV light and sun damage, or prolonged useage of steroid creams and medication.
Age Spots:
These are flat, brown spots normally caused by over- exposure to the sun. More commonly found on areas most exposed to sunlight. For example - the face, arms and hands. These spots tend to become more prolific with age, so if you are ypunger use high factor sun creams , even in this country. Avoid long exosure to the sun, especially at the sun's peak time of the day.
You can help reduce theappearance of these spots by regular use of a rescue oil. If they are very bad - seek professional help.
Skin Cancer:
Skin cancer is far more common than most of us would like to think. It is very important to routinely check your skin for signs of change, swelling or colour change in moles, abnormal patches or tender area. Seek medical help, as most skin cancer are treatable if discovered early.
